The Eduarte Courtot Foundation is comprised of people that are passionate about education. Every member of our executive team has a personal connection to the countries and the people that we serve.

Freya Eduarte

President

Originally from the Samar region of the Philippines, Freya Eduarte attended Fern University in Manila, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Finance. After emigrating to the United States, she attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco, obtaining a degree in Graphic and Computer Arts and working as a Graphic Designer before establishing the Eduarte Courtot Foundation in 2018.

Santa Margarita Elementary School, the recipient of the foundation’s first grant, is where Freya’s entire family went to school. Her grandmother also worked there as a teacher, establishing a legacy of education, and instilling the value of helping less fortunate people. Freya and her husband Philippe shared a vision of aiding children, which she carries forward in memory of him. Freya lives in San Francisco with their daughter, Evvia.

Amer Deeba

Boardmember

Growing up in South Lebanon, Amer Deeba attended Marjoyoun National College amidst the Lebanese Civil War. He received an Electrical Engineering Degree from the American University of Beirut before coming to the US to pursue a Masters in Computer Science at Santa Clara University. Since obtaining his graduate degree, he has served as a GM, CMO, CCO, and VP of corporate development and strategic alliances at various tech companies.

As the Middle East liaison for Eduarte Courtot Foundation, Deeba seeks out opportunities to provide monetary aid to schools in the midst of economic crisis. Lebanon remains close to his heart, and he donates personally to non-profit organizations serving that area such as American University of Beirut, Save the Children, Red Cross, and Seal USA. Amer resides in San Francisco with his wife, Rosie, and their son, Elias.

Rima Touma Bruno

Boardmember & Secretary

Originally from Zahle, Lebanon, Rima Bruno attended Collège des Sœurs des Saints Cœurs during the Lebanese Civil War, and moved to the US at the age of 16. After graduating from San Jose State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Bruno went on to various leadership positions at high-tech companies in the Bay Area. Specializing in Human Resources, Mergers and Acquisitions, she played a key role in growing these companies locally and worldwide, as well as developing programs for corporate social responsibility.

As a founding member of the Eduarte Courtot Foundation, Bruno evaluates opportunities to help less fortunate children worldwide. She lives in Monte Sereno with her husband, Michael, and their two daughters, Mikaela and Sofia.

Alice Ahn

Treasurer

Alice Ahn has been a long-time supporter and volunteer for educational and non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. After earning her undergraduate degree at Brown University, she received a Masters in Economics at New York University and a Juris Doctorate at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Since then, she has held senior-level positions as a compliance attorney for high tech firms and government organizations.

As Treasurer for ECF, Ahn is responsible for financial planning and budgeting, overseeing the cash flow of the organization, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Jean-Marie, and their daughter, Eloise.
